Hervey Bay State High School boost State-of-the-art commercial kitchen
These are exciting times at Hervey Bay State High School, with $450 000 worth of kitchen renovations having been completed just in time for the beginning of
Term 3. I have no doubt that the school’s new state-of-the-art commercial kitchen will expand learning opportunities for our students.
The upgrades to the two kitchens and dining room came as part of the state government’s infrastructure spending, which enabled the chipboard cupboards and salmon pink walls to be replaced with stainless-steel appliances, five combi ovens, a walk-in cool room, a new coffee machine, and a new service window connecting the kitchens and the dining room.
Home Economics is a highly popular subject amongst the school’s 1200 students. These new facilities will not only enhance the school’s strong junior home economics program, but will also support the introduction of a Certificate III in Hospitality for our senior students in the future.
