Due to COVID-19, the national HEIA conference scheduled for September 2020 has been postponed. While this was very disappointing, plans are now firmly in place for the conference to go ahead on 27–29 September 2021 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. All speakers who had committed to presenting in 2020 have been contacted to ascertain their availability for 2021. Fortunately, the majority have been able to confirm that they are happy to present in 2021. Similarly, it is intended that the same range of site visits and social events will be on offer for 2021.

By September 2021, just a year away, we will be well and truly ready to come together as a professional community and celebrate our profession.

Members are urged to secure their funding for 2021, and perhaps to spread it out over 2020 and 2021.

We look forward to seeing you there!

HEIA(Q) state conferences for 2020, 2021 and 2022

As many members would know, HEIA(Q) traditionally holds its annual conference in Brisbane in August each year. When plans were made for the HEIA national conference to be held in Brisbane in September 2020, the HEIA(Q) Committee of Management decided to cancel the HEIA(Q) 2020 state conference. The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) had been booked for the HEIA(Q) 2021 state conference for some time. However, when the HEIA 2020 national conference was postponed until September 2021, the Committee of Management decided it was prudent to cancel the booking for the HEIA(Q) 2021 conference for August 2021.

However, we do have a booking at the BCEC for the 2022 HEIA(Q) state conference for 13 August 2022. Let us hope that there are no further disruptions!
